Uganda Women Empowerment Programme (UWEP)
UWEP is a government program that is aimed at increasing Household income and empowering womenin the community.
in kaliro the program is operating in all the 11 sub counties and 1 Town Council.
ACHIEVEMENTS;
1. Improved standards of living for women/families involved in the program
2. Women have enhanced their financial literacy levels. They save and easily transact business even in Banks.
3. Reduced cases of Gender Based Violence since women are involved in income generating activities, their basic needs can easily be met.

PROGRESS REPORT FOR UGANDA WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM (UWEP)
So far we have received two hundred fourteen million seven hundred seventy thousand shillings only (214,770.000/=) for the two financial years of 2015/16 and 2016/17.
The above sum of money was given to twenty nine (29) women interest groups as evidenced in appendix I and ii respectively. Of the twenty nine women interest groups, only eight (8) that received funding in 2015/16 have started recovering as seen in appendix iii.
